5 STAGES Training
The Nia 5 Stages is an integrative movement practice based on the five stages of human development: Embryonic, Creeping, Crawling, Standing and Walking. Practiced with awareness, these stages have the power to facilitate optimal alignment, improved function and comfort in the body. Whether practiced at length or for as little as five minutes a day, this system provides a tool for reclaiming and sustaining mobility, flexibility, strength, agility and stability.
The Nia 5 Stages Training provides people with the tools to embody the practice. Upon completion it qualifies graduates (who license) to facilitate a 60-minute Nia 5 Stages class and to integrate this body of work into Nia classes, private sessions and two-hour experiential workshops. The Nia 5 Stages Training program adds a whole new skillset to the Nia teacher’s realm of expertise. It includes three comprehensive modules: Pre-Training, Training and Post-Training.
Whether you are a Nia teacher, belt graduate, instructor or mover of any modality, this training is for everyone with a desire to move with a fluid, graceful ease for life. It is the perfect accompaniment for any movement, fitness or sport practice. It will enhance any profession - movement or otherwise. For lovers of movement and the body, the study of the body's way of anatomy in motion. It is for able-bodies who can move from the ground up. You will be trained to teach adaptations.
The Training is beautifully paced, alternating between movement sessions and discussion times designed to give our bodies a chance to rest and recharge. Honor your body by self-guiding and adapting. Participants have successfully completed 5 STAGES while while healing medical conditions that necessitated limited movement. Your unique pace is perfect. Session topics include the 5 STAGES class format, The Body's Way Lesson (Nia's anatomy), the art of verbal guidance, the voice, movement observation, adaptations and use of props.
Optional pre-training material is available to prepare before or review after: a self-paced study that includes reading material, 2 dvds and cd sessions with Debbie Rosas - creator - on the architecture, energy flow, body's way anatomy and voice. I will have extra sets if you sign up close to the date.
Upon completion of all sessions, you become a 5 STAGES graduate. In the Nia system, graduates who are current Livelihood Members are automatically licensed to teach. A dedicated 5 STAGES license is available to non-livelihood members ($170) and gives you access to a comprehensive post-training program that includes 52 somatic lesson plans. These are brilliant somatic experiences created by Debbie Rosas and are what you learn to deliver during the training. Topics range from the study of bones, joints, muscles to the chakra system, the heart and sounding. Unique to the 5 STAGES, each lesson blends a cognitive study of anatomy with a poetic, sensory-based delivery.
